Bro. Dix takes Bronze in 100m, seeks Gold in 200m
Lost in the hype of Usain Bolt’s world record setting performance in the Men’s 100m was that our Brother from FSU, Walter Dix, took home the Bronze Medal at the Beijing Olympic games. Last night, I watched him in the quarterfinals for the Men’s 200m and just saw that he’s in the finals going for Gold. Good luck, Bro. Dix!

A Sigma History Lesson
As a history buff, I’m intrigued by the rich history of Phi Beta Sigma and the trailblazers within the fraternity. We all have different reasons for becoming “Sigma Men”, but one thing that consistently rings true is that Phi Beta Sigma is the most “inclusive” fraternity in the country. This can be seen by the diversity of our membership, our community service projects, and the impact our brothers have made on society. We believe all Sigmas are famous, but most of the active membership consists of men who don’t seek glory, but instead work hard to make positive change within our community without being a public figure. We have had numerous well-known public figures become members since 1914. Most have been part of the civil rights movement, leading political figures, athletics, and successful artist in the entertainment industry.
Listed below you will find a confirmed list some of our famous Sigma trailblazers in the Entertainment/Fine Arts industry. I hope that this information can be used to correct some of the incorrect listings of men who are not Sigmas on numerous chapter websites on the internet.

Bro. Francis L. Hall and Alpha Sigma Chapter
I hope that each of you are doing well. I am good, getting ready to hit the books again, I had a few weeks off, class starts on the 25th.
Yesterday, August 7, 2008, marked the 93rd birthday of Bro. Francis L. Hall (8/7/15). As all of you know Bro. Hall was the co-author of the Sigma Light and one of Greatest Men in SIGMA. I was going through some old pictures yesterday and I found one of Brother Hall and a few members of Alpha Sigma Chapter. When I look at the pride, dignity, class, and sophistication that these men displayed despite the times in which they lived and endured, it just gives me great pride.
Happy Birthday Bro. Hall, your LIGHT will always shine.
This picture is from the collection of Bro. Francis L. Hall. From L to R: Bro. James Squires, Bro. Francis L. Hall, Bro. Joseph Dotson, Bro. Joseph Battle, Bro. Alphonzo Harris, Bro. Judge Hubert Pair, I cant think of this brothers name, and Bro. Dr. Charles Wade.
