The 2006 Western Regional Conference will be held March 16-19, 2006 in Ontario, California at the Ontario Airport Marriott Hotel. Hosted by the Alpha Alpha Epsilon Sigma and Mu Xi chapters, we have an exciting conference planned. I’ve organized the information present on the 57th Western Regional Conference page on this site to highlight the important details in these areas:

Transportation
Ontario is located in San Bernadino County on the eastern city limits of Los Angeles between Glendora and Riverside along Interstate 10. Ontario International Airport (ONT) is serviced by many carriers including Southwest, United, Delta, America West, Alaska Airlines, and US Airways to name a few. Located 55 miles to the west, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is an alternate airport to fly into, as is the Burbank Airport (BUR), which is situated 50 miles northwest of Ontario. Be sure to shop with reputable online travel services like Yahoo! Travel or Travelocity to find the best deals. For those choosing to fly into the Ontario airport, where you will be met by a member of the host chapters, ground transportation to and from the airport will be provided.
Ontario Airport Marriott Hotel
The Ontario Airport Marriott Hotel is located at 2200 E Holt Boulevard, just half a mile from the Ontario airport. We’ve negotiated a conference hotel rate of $79/night. Please be sure to reference Phi Beta Sigma when making your reservations. Call reservations at (909)975-5000 or (800)284-8811 to reserve your room today.

Job Postings
I get a few of these coming my way from time to time and thought that I’d pass them along.
A recruiter that I used to work with is now working at JotSpot.com. I used to work with Ken Norton over there as well and he was key in getting me over to Search. They’re looking for PHP developers. Here’s the complete job listing.

my infamous email
i’ve received a number of inquiries asking what the email i sent that actually got me pushed aside. at first, i was keeping it private, but have since decided to make it available to all.
original email sent to the General Board and supporting officers:
November 8, 2005
Dear All Program Participates and Tickets Holders to the “Roswell O. Sutton Gala”,
All activities schedules for the General Broad Meeting, the A. Langston Taylor Leadership Retreat, and the Roswell O. Sutton Celebration have been relocated from the Marriott Atlanta Marquis to the Atlanta Hilton Hotel located at 255 Courtland Street, NE Atlanta, GA 30303. The telephone number to the Atlanta Hilton is (404) 659-2000. The Atlanta Hilton is located directly across the street from the Marriott Atlanta Marquis.
If you made reservations at the Marriott Atlanta Marquis, it will be transfer over to the Atlanta Hilton on your behalf. If you have any questions please feel free to contract the International Headquarters at (202) 726-5424 or my cell number at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.
Thanks for your participation in these scheduled events.
Regards,
Donald Jemison
International Executive Director
to which i replied:
I just spoke with Monique Hunter from Hilton group sales. She said that we all need to make reservations at the Hilton. They will NOT be transferred over automatically. She asked that we call reservations (1-800-HILTONS), make our own reservations, and send her an email so she can give us the $99/night rate.
Reserving online will only offer you a rate of $199/night while calling will give you $119/night. While Monique has assured us she’ll be able to switch rates, I’d suggest calling in your reservations. For those of you who may be travelling tomorrow and might not be able to cancel your Marriott reservation, you might want to do so yourself.
I’m ready to put the word out on the changes if there are no objections.
phil.
