RIP Hon. R.O. Sutton

Hon. Bro. R. O. Sutton

earlier today, bro “jdreeves” posted the following on thecause1914:

It is with great sadness that I must report that our former oldest living National President, The Honorable Brother R.O. Sutton passed away at approximately 5:00 p.m. this evening. Please join me in prayer for his family and those of us who loved him in Sigma. Of course no arrangements have been made at this time.

i had the pleasure of meeting the honorable bro. sutton at his banquet in atlanta in 2005. during the roll call of past presidents, he single handedly energized the entire room. while every other past president responded with a business-like “here” when called, bro. sutton let out an exuberant “HERE” when his name was called. after the banquet, i stood nearby waiting my turn to shake his hand and spend a few moments one on one honoring bro. sutton amazed at the individual attention he gave to each brother, old and young, coming to congratulate him. i’m glad i had those precious moments to share with this Sigma giant.

free chapter site hosting on bluephi.net

i threw this out a while ago on thecause1914, but didn’t get much response. i really feel this is a service the folks running pbs1914.org should offer and with Yahoo!’s recent announcement to close their free Geocities hosting service by October, i know quite a few of you may be looking to relocate your chapter sites elsewhere. so here’s the deal, i’ll host your chapter site free of charge. all i ask of you is a link back to bluephi.net. i’ll give you your own subdomain: chapter.bluephi.net. we’ll have to talk specifics about who’s got access and how much you’ll be able to update on your own. if you’re interested, hit me up.
