Last week, I told you that due to the Great Depression, history from the 1930s is hard to come by, so when you come across some rare history, make sure you document it.<\/p>\n
Today, ALPHA CHAPTER 1932 AND 1933 from the Moreland Spingarn Library at Howard University.<\/p>\n
Notice that in 1932, R.A. Billings was the President of Alpha Chapter<\/a>. R. A. Billings was made at Zeta Chapter in 1921 and served as president there as well. Bro. Billings was actually in Medical School in 1932, but it is one of those history lessons, that makes you say HUMMM? The address of the house is cut off in the picture but Bro. Hall told me that this house was on S St. NW in DC, but he could not remember the address. From the oral history that I got from Bro. Hall, Bro. Pair and a few others, the first frat house was at 325 T Street, NW, they sold that and moved to S Street, NW in the late 1920’s -30’s, then moved to 2nd and T Street, NW, Washington, DC.<\/p>\n In the 1933 picture, Bro. Lucius Young (Alpha Chapter 1932) was an officer of the chapter. Bro. Mark “Mallet” Pacich about two months ago sent me a picture of Bro. Young, who currently resides in Florida. Bro. Young is a life member, a member of the DSC Chapter also a past national president of Alpha Phi Omega Service Fraternity.<\/p>\n First let me say congratulations to Bro.
