{"id":3225,"date":"2011-11-01T11:54:34","date_gmt":"2011-11-01T19:54:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bluephi.net\/blog\/?p=3225"},"modified":"2011-11-01T11:54:34","modified_gmt":"2011-11-01T19:54:34","slug":"phi-beta-sigma-awards-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bluephi.net\/blog\/2011\/11\/01\/phi-beta-sigma-awards-scholarships\/","title":{"rendered":"Phi Beta Sigma awards scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From The St. Louis American<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>During its annual Scholarship Brunch the Education Committee of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc awarded $ 3,500 in scholarships to deserving high school seniors.<\/p>\n<p>Recipients were De&#8217;Von Washington, Christian Brothers College High School; Jourdon Morgan III, Hazelwood East High School; Chris Johnson, Lafayette High School; and Kendrick Strong II, Mel Carnahan High School.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said, ?We continued our philanthropic legacy by upholding our motto, ?Culture for Service, and Service for Humanity.????<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Anthony McDonald, of the Risen Foundation, allowed all in attendance a preview of literary excerpts from books penned by several of his students.?The students spoke from the heart and gave a riveting display of all their hard work.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship program continued with guest speaker, Bro. Eugene Simpson. Bro. Simpson, a father, brother, an educator, brought his entire repertoire and provided an exhilarating call to ACTION.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers said, ?We look forward to a bigger and better scholarship brunch in 2012!
