They can be seen in the cities of If and Benin.<\/li>\n<li>The Black entertainer who was called &#8216;The Mother of the Blues&#8217; is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ma_Rainey\">Ma Rainey<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Under the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fugitive_Slave_Law_of_1850\">Slave Fugitive Act of 1850<\/a>, a slave named <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anthony_Burns\">Anthony Burns<\/a> was returned to the south. This act made it easy for masters of runaway slaves to reclaim them.<\/li>\n<li>The first black manager of a major baseball team was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Frank_Robinson\">Frank Robinson<\/a>. He signed with the Cleveland Indians as player-manager in October 1974.<\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/George_Baker_%28spiritual_leader%29\">George Baker<\/a> (aka Father Divine) founded the Father Divine <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/International_Peace_Mission_movement\">Peace Mission<\/a>. During the Great Depression his movement furnished food and other aid to thousands of impoverished blacks.<\/li>\n<li><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Theodore_K._Lawless\">Dr. Theodore Lawless<\/a> won the Spingarn Medal in 1954 for his cures of several skin diseases.<\/li>\n<li>Africa is the second largest continent in the world and covers about 11,600,000 square miles.<\/li>\n<li>In 1865, a Virginia slave decided to mail himself to freedom by packaging himself in a 3&#8242; x 2&#8242; x 2&#8217;8&#8243; box. He arrived safely 26 hours later at the Anti Slavery Society in Philadelphia.<\/li>\n<li>The first Black Miss America crowned was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vanessa_L._Williams\">Vanessa Lynn Williams<\/a> from Tarrytown, New York. She served from Sept 1983 to July 1984. She was replaced by the second Black Miss America named <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Suzette_Charles\">Suzette Charles<\/a> who finished out the reign to Septmber 1984.<\/li>\n<li>In the 1960&#8217;s, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Floyd_B._McKissick\">Floyd B. McKissick<\/a> developed a town named Soul City.
