I stand at the door of two remarkable opportunities.

I have again been invited to work and teach HIV/AIDS prevention education as a part of the Pedagogy Of Action (POA) team in the Black South African townships of Cato Crest and Kwa Zulu-Natal, and on December 17, 2008 my name was announced, as one of two choreographers in the country to participate in the ProDanza Choreographers Workshop in Castiglioncello, Italy. It is with your support and well-wishes that these opportunities become reality. I am writing to solicit funds for these career-advancing and socially relevant projects.

This summer (May 9 – June 12, 2009) will be my second trip to South Africa as a POA team member. My experience in summer 2007 continues to have an immense impact on my transformation from student scholar into educator activist with a consciousness of agency. Kwa Zulu-Natal is the literal epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic on the continent.

ProDanza (July 1- July 31, 2009) houses some of the most influential choreographers and teachers under its Choreographers Workshop umbrella. The selection of my name to participate in this program highlights the interest that my work is gaining in the field of Dance and Contemporary Choreography. My ability to work with and be mentored through Prodanza will continue my evolution as choreographer/artist.

My work largely focuses on issues of the human condition and social justice, this is why these projects are so important? they feed both sides of who I am.
