The Great Grandson of Samuel P. Massie, Sr.

Imagine our delight this weekend when we found the following comment on our post about Charter Member S.P. Massie:

Samuel Proctor Massie Sr. was my great-grandfather!
– Jack

Kevin shot a quick email to him this morning and within a few hours got a return phone call. Here’s Kevin’s email about it:

Subject: Brothers – OUR BLESSING TODAY – The Great Grandson of Samuel P. Massie, Sr.

Man, I just got off the phone with Mr. Jack Lyons (Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity), whose grandfather was William Jacko Massie (our frat and son of S.P. Massie, Sr. our charter member).

Brothers, I could talk to Jack for hours. Jack also collects his family history and he is doing his family geneaology. He told me that our charter member was born January 26, 1889 in Winchester, Kentucky. But in 1900, he at age 11 he was living in Xenia Greens, Ohio. The picture that we have of SP. Massie Sr and SP Massie Jr, posted on the website, Jack has that picture in his bed room. His mother (Willam’s daughter) has the original picture.

Mallet, Jack’s god-brother is Devin Minnis….(Sigma Brother). I could go on and on brothers, but I will stop here. Jack is going to check with his family to see if they have any Sigma artifacts and get back to us.

He said if we have any questions for him please hit him up. Get this, he said he had no idea that his great grand father was a Charter Member of Sigma. He knew he was a Sigma, but he did not know he was a charter member until he saw it on bluephi.net last night will doing some research.

Man, I tell you. Mallet, you started me on this journey, and I cannot tell you, how greatful I am to you. To have connected with so many people connected to our FRATERNITY and to HISTORY, is something that I cant describe.

Jack, FROM YOUR GREEK BROTHERS OF PHI BETA SIGMA FRATERNITY, INC. WE THANK YOU AND WE WILL BE IN TOUCH FOR SURE.
