On Saturday December 8, 2007 Darryl Williams, Brad Leak and John Leak (Harrisburg, PA Chapter) ventured out to Susquehanna University after a Preliminary Meeting Held with there by IED Marco McMillian.
We met with 9 Young College Freshmen who themselves represented over 20% of the African American Male Population on Campus. These 9 men (organized by a legacy nephew from KBS-“BROOKLAND” (name to be provided when I go to my bag) and a Young Man from Newark, NJ) are interested NOW in PBS. Here is the kicker. Susquehanna University will be paying ALL Fees associated with Chartering this chapter in addition to initiation fees for all involved! WOW
If that is not enough, there are 5-6 faculty members (2 white) who wish to charter a Grad Chapter in conjunction with the formation of the Under Graduate Chapter! Again the University is footing the bill. One of the white gentlemen is the DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS for the University! There was a 3rd White Brother but he pledged a white org on campus and we told him he did not apply for membership under our constitution. He was upset!
OK, you heard enough to be pleased for today right!
WELL Phi Beta Sigma at Susquehanna U has a HOUSE! A House where the letters P B S will be hung with pride!
Now what we need are some Penn State Collegians to come and participate in the History Sessions. We don’t want to make these Brothers and leave them out on an Island.
The Harrisburg Chapter has GREATLY been assisting in this process. KUDOS!
This is good news! When my line of 5 crossed Spring 2K1, Nu Theta Chapter @ Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC (Shouts to Alpha Beta Psi-Newberry College for assisting) our Greek Life/Multicultural Dept. fronted our reactivation, liability insurance, and etc. It was a good look then for us at PC and it will be a great look for them at Susquehanna.
Good to hear of the growth for Sigma.
Make them right and they will appreciate what Sigma is about. The long-term goal should be to enable these brothers to stay as brothers…
