Silver Anniversary 1939

A number of you have asked me what was Founder Taylor’s profession? I asked Bro. Hall a few years ago, and he told me that Founder Taylor retired from the Smithsonian Institute, but he never told me his profession. He told me that Founder Taylor was very active in a number of business and civic initiatives in the Washington, DC area.

Today, we have the cover from the 25th Anniversary Conclave Journal (December 26-30, 1939), a listing of the 1939 General Board of Phi Beta Sigma, and in 1939, our beloved Founder was an Attorney here in the Washington, DC area. (This is a rare Conclave Journal).

I thought you might find this little known history fact one of interest…I have the Conclave picture from this event, but its in bad shape, I will see if I can get it scanned for you soon.

Today in Sigma History – February 22, 2008 – The Silver Anniversary (December 26-30, 1939).

  1. wow. i wonder how much more information About Founder Taylor can be found out by looking at court transcripts/records or at Smithsonian records. Also interesting that he worked with wills…I’ve heard a couple of rumors about his own will, although I’m not sure about the credibility.
