I am sure many have seen this document and photos. It is sad what our elected officers try to hide from the Bros. This has been going on since the late 80’s. Tri-Sigma has offered to come down and clean up several times. The Board has always refused their offer.
However, they still wonder why we went to Kansas State University and why Bros. will not leave their collections with the Fraternity. They could care less about the history, but will throw the boxes of hitorical items on top of those in the photo.

Sad is the only word I have for this. I have been a member of this fraternity for many years. I am sad to see our books and history being destroyed. This is a matter that the President must address immediately. We have to hold leadership accountable. A letter to the general body must be written to address this disrespect for our history.
Not quite a prediction…but just to let you know…Donald Jemison is going to be the “fall-guy” for all of this. They are going to blame him, and then get rid of him in 2007. This will be their reason. All of these politicians claim that the membership and the history is so important to them…all the while your membership records and Fraternity history lies in rat-shit. All they care about are large chapters that have voting strength. I hope Brothers now realize why the Brothers involved in the History Movement preserve the items we collect…and why we treat them with the respect they deserve. This is why we started what we started in 1999. Because these elected bozos don’t care.

Correct, Jemison is not the problem and it was not his decisionn to place those items down there. wWe must realize, Donal is a brother, but in his capacity as NED is an employee. If you want the items removed we must go beyond Paul and go to his “advisor”, Carter Womack. This cat just will not go away, and he has plenty of company. Carter had those items placed down there in the first place when he was president. These arte items they do not want you to see. More secrets.
We do need to have someone run against Paul. If we do not, we only have ourselves to blame. Now you see why we made the trip to Kansas State. We want to ensure our historical items are preserved for the future. The Fraternity will not do that.

I am disgusted with the entire situation. The Power of One is a joke. Who has the power to preserve our history and clean up something like a basement. I am glad its being revealed. More brothers need to make their voices heard.
Paul was aware of the situation a year and a half ago. When he questioned how we preserve the museum items or why we thought we were the best ones to do it…we asked him if he had been to the basement of HQ. He replied “no”. We explained the condition the items were in. Apparently he didn’t believe us, or he didn’t care. Either way, the pics are out, and he is embarrassed. But he was fully aware of the condition of the basement. All the while he has the AUDACITY to question how well we take care of the museum items. What a joke!

This is exactly what we are trying to do brothers, get the information out to the masses. You will be getting a large amount of information and we need you to read it and pass it on to all brothers on your e-mail lists. We are trying to start a movement to take back Sigma from those who have been holding it hostage for too long. There will be no egos involved and no self serving agendas. It is not about any individual and/or group, but all about Sigma and the Founders’ vision.

When I pledged Sigma is 1968, the president of Sigma was a servant of the membership. I have written two essays about how both the structure and the operations of Sigma have changed over the past quarter-century. The first essay is called, “A Conflict of Models???. This essay describes how the structure of Sigma was changed as a result of black men moving into the American corporate structure and bringing back the corporate model into Sigma to replace the brotherhood model.
The second essay, “The Birth of G.O.M.A.B. and the Death of Culture for Service??? describes how power-hungry officers destroyed the Conclave (Sigma’s supreme legislative assembly of chapters) and replaced it with the “president-board centered??? structure that we operate under today.

There is also a third essay (as yet unfinished) that begins to outline what you (the Real Power of Sigma) must do to take back your fraternity and put the Founder’s model back into place. Its title is “Established Upon the Principles???.
Two quick answers. Bro. C. Jones asked about who is running for president. That is one of the problems. In Sigma “NOBODY??? should “RUN??? for president. We, as members of Sigma, should recommend brothers to higher office who have served us well at lower offices. Election in Sigma should have nothing to do with a brother’s “desire??? to have an office. Most of those who run for office have to do so because left to our own devices; we would never elect them to anything.
Donald Jemison is in a very delicate position because presently he does not work for us. He is answerable only to the General Board (read your constitution). At the moment, he is being set up for dismissal. Donald was not properly prepared to become NED; but we can do that now. We must not allow a new flunky to be put in that vital position. We must change the constitution so that “OUR??? NED is answerable to us (through the board). Maybe then Bro. Jemison will be able to communicate directly to us on a monthly basis by e-mail as other executive directors do.

I agree, Paul has to go. A frat called me today and told me about these pictures. I said to myself that he was exagerrating. To see them for myself makes me ill.
It saddens me to read the previous article about who we are losing giants within the frat and yet not preserving the history of such great men. How could something so imprtant be left behind? Even more what are the brothers who know and have been informed going to do on next year?
Who will challenge Paul next year? I have not heard about a brother being posed to run.

While we lump blame on Paul as he should take his fair share of the blame, this is a problem that predates Paul.
This runs back to the first carter administration.
Do we have a membership management database that allows the IED or the membership services manager or the financial services manager to quicky update records or locate brothers that are not financial or to group brothers by careers for networking purposes? Are we vertically integrated to handle the membership management in-house?
Before we elect another promise guy, we need to see and hear from Paul or his many minions what exactly is his plan to fix this? What resources does he plan to use to get this done?
Is going to use the tired formula of sticking to advice from carter or is he willing to listen to & enlist help from the general body which is where he gets his mandate from?
At some point, listening to the people that put this fraternity in the state of disorganization seems to be the last thing that any elected official should do.
Juan, you make an excellent point about Paul and his choices as we move forward. It always amazes me how we sit back while our elected officers keep there secrets and refuse to tell the truth to the membership. However, we will let them continue to make promises about how they will change things or fix the mess they have created. The Body then elects them back into the office for another term of nothingness and more destruction to Sigma.
We must stop listening to the cats destroying the Fraternity when they start with their dirty politics to try and discredit brothers trying to move forward in a positive direction. We have had Ol’ School “brothers” bad mouthing Mallet and Kevin for years to serve their hidden agenda. They are the reason you did not see the Museum in LA. If you want positive change in Sigma, w must fight for it. One element of the fight is to stop listening to the worthless crap the Ol’Boys will keep trying to feed you.

Vote Paul out!! I don’t believe he is willing to listen and surely we have within this body of brothers capable leadership concerned about moving us foward. We ignored brothers like Dr. Anthony Sammad and others who have the leadership skills and the track record in Sigma to truly make Sigma the shining example of greatness it has been in the past.
Unfortunately, Sammad is tainted as he has aligned himself with Carter.
Not all the problems are Carter’s either as the body chose to give up it’s power to him instead of digging deeper and doing more for itself…
Sigma has the brainpower and it is only a matter of time before we either live or die by our own ability to save ourselves.
Sigma must stop resting on it’s laurels or we will soon be lower than iota.
At some point, we must fill the ranks with people that think for themselves and are willing to do the right thing and not the politically expedient thing or the thing that gets them elected so that it becomes resume fodder…
Only then can you correct the wrongs of those in power. You have to outflank and outthink your enemy and not be reactive or you are constantly losing at every turn…

We have been doing that for far too long. Think about it, when you are talking to others about Sigma, for the most part you tell them about past service. Not too much can be said abotu the present, because Sigma stands for NOTHING.
I have asked brothers time and again to READ the words to our hymn. Scruggs did not write it that way because it sounded good or so we could sing it to a good beat. There is a message to every Sigma in the Hymn. He is telling us something and warning us at the same time.

Lets stop playing musical chairs with folk who desire to be president for the wrong reason. I was recently told Brother Jerry Green is looking to run for president after paul. Green for president? Please…that would be awful, just look at what he has done in the gulf coast as its director. Wake up sigma. We are a body of great men and have within its ranks men who are concerned about the improving the brotherhood and taking it to the next level!
Lower than Iota! Brother we cant allow this to happen. Our leadership must begin to listen and if not, vote them out and elect a president who is of the brothers and for the brothers. I disagree with some who think Samadd would not be a good president. He was an excellect choice but we squandered the opportunity. Lets take Sigma Back.

Mallett, I hope your numbers are wrong! To drop under Iota would be an insult to the history of this organization. we must find new leadership that would bring this organization to the next level. We still have a chance. What I finde intersting is no one has said anything positive or in support of our current president on this site. Where are the brothers in support. Could this be a sign that the brotherhood is either cavalier about our leadership or the brothers understand there is a need for new leadership and agree that Paul is not the man for the job.
Where is Paul’s support. Tyrone you are right. No one who “appears” to support this brother has written. Surely one brother out there feels he is doing an ok job. While, I am not one, where are the brothers who “support” Paul. Now this is a very sad commentary. Its good to see all of the feedback on this one topic. This could lead to a revolution within Sigma!!!!!

Say goodbye to Paul in North Carolina. New leadership is being demanded. Thers apppears to be a ground swell of support for new vision for Sigma. But who are the persons willing to step forth and when will they appear. We all know Paul is not the man to lead Sigma to the next level. We need to continue to discuss our future.

I am dissapointed in Pauls performance. I really thought he would have been one to bring Sigma to another level. Authur would have been better if he would have remained in office. There is currently a ground swell of support for Anthony Sammad. The jury is out on his support. I do however think we need a change.
I don’t know Bro. Sammad. Having said that, I question Sammad’s dedication to change. There are many things that this brother could have done without a National Office, but when he didn’t get elected he just disappeared. Paul didn’t get elected the first time he ran. He served the board in another capacity until the next election. Whether we agree with him or like the results, Paul has a vision for the Frat, and had the motivation to work to make that vision a reality. Do you have a vision for the Frat? Are you willing to do what it takes to make that vision a reality? Or would you rather just complain on a message board?
The records thing is not some monstrous plot by womack and company. Where else did we have to put these records? Before we had the headquarters they were in somebody’s garage, weren’t they? We have a ragedy HQ. It never should have been purchased. It is a tremedous financial drain on the Frat. We certainly don’t get out of it what we put into it.
Forget who gets elected to office. Until brothers come to the conclave prepared to make some decisions and take some action, the results will be the same.
