Bro. Jean Lawrence Cook was an arranger and recording artist. He was born July 14, 1899 in Athens Tennessee. He was educated at the Haines Institute in Augusta Georgia and graduated from Columbia University in 1928. He married Edith Bascomb on November 15, 1922.
He left his mark on the world by composing a few classic hits. “All of God’s Chilluns Got Wings”, “St. Louis Blues”, “Scared Cat”, and “Cleopatra’s Needle” are just a few of the songs I found in his catalog. He was an Elk, member of the Monarch Lodge #45, a Presbyterian and registered Republican. He was initiated through Alpha Delta Chapter.
