Willie “Sarge??? Whitehead Honored

This year’s All Macon County Day celebration (Tuskegee, AL) started off with a fundraiser at Washington Chapel to honor local heroes. Here are a few excerpts from The Tuskegee News.

During the formal All Macon County Day Awards Banquet on Sunday, August 8, presided over by Macon County Commission chair Louis Maxwell, the commission honored four veterans – three who served in World War II – for their service to both their country and the county.

Willie “Sarge??? Whitehead was born June 15, 1921, and entered the military at the age of 17. Whitehead served in three wars and retired from dedicated service to the United States Army after 26 years.
