Organization donates fans to elderly people during hot weather
Huntsville, AL (WAFF) – Temperatures are projected to remain in the low 90’s this week and for some staying in doors under the air conditioner or under a fan is the only way to beat the heat.

Alumni members of Alabama A&M’s Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. along with CASA are helping elderly people keep cool during extremely hot temperatures.

They held their annual “Project Kewl Breeze” at the Alabama Contingency Residential and Commercial Agency.

For four years, the members have helped provide a little summer relief by donating fans to the senior citizens of the Tennessee Valley.

“Hopefully by doing this it will make a small difference in the elderly which is sometimes overlooked, because of their age and they’re are not around as much, but hopefully with this small project we’ll be able to make a difference in someone’s life,” Tom A. Randolph, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

CASA said the early heat this year, had them getting requests for fans and air-conditioning units several weeks earlier than normal.

Over 60 fans were collected.
