The 1922 Lincoln Crystal from Lincoln University (Pennsylvania) (Cover) and page 19 (right column) announces the establishment of MU Chapter.
Some brothers have debated that “The Clean Speech Week” was actually Sigma’s first national program. Listed in our history book “Our Cause Speeds On” there is a section that talks about the formation of the Clean Speech Week by MU Chapter.

Does anyone know what the specifics guidelines were in the Clean Speech Program, and why it was discontinued. I am very interested in knowing. Thank you.
In those days, it was more common for men not to cuss, especially collegiates.
The goal or thought was that if men did not cuss, they also would not drink or participate in other activities that were considered as ungentlemanly.
As times changed, so did the need for the program.
It was a different era and time…
